A1286 R Apple Laptop Battery

This A1286 R Apple Laptop Battery is only compatible with the MacBook Pro 15 inch laptop models listed on the bottom of this page, including models made between 2009 and Early 2011. Apple made two different generations of 15″ MacBook Pros in Early 2011 which take different batteries.

If your laptop was made in 2011, it is important to note that Apple produced two different generations of MacBooks. This battery is compatible with the model that was going out of production and the next generation was just coming into production. Here you can find the battery for the next generation of MacBook Pro 15″ (early 2011-mid 2012).

To further complicate things, if the model printed on the bottom of the laptop is A1286, there are two different batteries that use the same model number. If your battery snaps into place, this is not the correct battery. This battery is only compatible with the internal battery in MacBook Pros. To replace the Apple A1286 battery you need unscrew the bottom of the laptop to access the battery. We include the required tools and instructions to remove and replace your original MacBook Pro 15″ battery.
